Biopsy Specimens

We now directly accept biopsy specimens for routine processing and a full histopathology review.

Two GI Pathology Review options are available, and a histopathology report will be delivered to you within 48 hours of specimen receipt. Both endoscopy and surgical full thickness biopsies will be accepted. All biopsy samples should be shipped overnight in formalin directly to New River VDL.

Complete Diagnostic Solution

Once the biopsy is received, we will embed, section, and stain the biopsy specimen using standard protocols. Then, we will have a board-certified veterinary pathologist perform a full histopathology review, providing you with a report within 48 hours and at a competitive price.

For an equivocal feline case, the process to obtain secondary testing data often takes up to 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the time for recuts, shipping of samples to a secondary lab, and the existing lab queue. Instead, you may direct New River VDL to perform the LymphoPro Feline Dx test for cases that are already in-house and where a secondary test is warranted. An updated pathology report with the new results will be delivered within five (5) business days. You will not receive any additional recut or shipping fees and will not encounter any time delays or logistical issues.
